Pete Davidson is reportedly confused by Elsie Hewitt’s claim that she is raising their baby “on my own” after their split.

The 32-year-old comedian and the 30-year-old model recently ended their relationship about five months after welcoming their daughter, Scottie Rose. While Davidson has a long history of fast-moving romances, insiders say this breakup feels different because a child is involved.

According to sources close to Davidson, his main focus is now making sure Hewitt and Scottie are supported.

Pete Davidson Reportedly Wanted The Relationship To Work

Davidson and Hewitt first went public in early 2025, and their relationship moved quickly. By July, they announced they were expecting a baby. Their daughter arrived on Dec. 12, 2025.

One insider said Davidson had been happy about the pregnancy and wanted the relationship to last. “This should be the most exciting time for him,” a friend said.

Still, another source said the couple may have clashed too much before and after Scottie’s birth. “Having a baby is difficult,” the insider said. “No one can prepare you for what happens after you have a baby.” A separate source close to the couple claimed their issues were “not related to the baby” and that signs of incompatibility were already there before Scottie was born.

Elsie Hewitt’s Post Reportedly Caught Davidson Off Guard

Hewitt recently posted on Instagram that she was looking for an “assistant / mother’s helper / nanny type / basically right hand person.”

She followed it with a TikTok where she said she had a baby to care for, had to work and make money, and was “doing it on my own.”

According to Page Six, Davidson was blindsided by the posts. One insider said Davidson’s “main priority right now is making sure that Elsie and Scottie are looked after,” making it “utterly confusing” to people close to them that Hewitt would suggest he was not supporting her.

Sources claimed Davidson is helping financially, including with rent, living expenses, health insurance, and the baby’s needs. They also said he has adjusted his schedule to prioritize being in the city and remaining present.

Why This Split Is Different For Davidson

Davidson’s past breakups have often overlapped with difficult periods in his personal life.

After his 2018 engagement to Ariana Grande ended, he posted a message that triggered concern and led to a wellness check at ‘Saturday Night Live’. Around his split from Kaia Gerber in 2020, he entered a treatment center. In 2023, he went to a wellness facility months after crashing a car into a Beverly Hills home while dating Chase Sui Wonders. In 2024, he again entered rehab around the time of his split from Madelyn Cline.

But insiders say Davidson is in a stronger place now.

A source close to the couple said fatherhood has pushed him to stay focused and committed. Davidson, whose father Scott Davidson died on 9/11, has reportedly wanted to become a dad for a long time. “It’s something he’s always wanted and really looked forward to,” the insider said. The source added that Davidson is nearly two years removed from his last rehab stay and has been working hard to stay healthy.

Davidson Reportedly Wants Peace With Hewitt

Hewitt, who previously worked as a model and actress, met Davidson through mutual friends. Their connection reportedly became serious quickly, but the relationship did not last.

Sources now say a reconciliation is unlikely. Still, Davidson’s friends claim he wants Hewitt to be happy and successful. One insider said he is focused on keeping the peace and staying involved for Scottie. “All he wants is for Elsie to be happy and in a good place,” a friend said.

For Davidson, this split is no longer just another celebrity breakup. It is now about co-parenting, public claims, and trying to keep his new role as a father steady while the relationship itself falls apart.
