Sydney Sweeney’s NBA Finals date with Scooter Braun quickly turned into a fashion roast and a bad-luck debate.

The ‘Euphoria’ actress attended Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night as the New York Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio. Sweeney, 28, arrived with Scooter Braun, 44, after the pair had also been spotted at Game 4 at Madison Square Garden earlier in the week.

Sweeney appeared to be supporting the Knicks in a personalized Jalen Brunson jersey-style T-shirt and denim.

But fans quickly noticed one strange detail. The white top featured Knicks colors and Brunson’s number 11, but the number appeared on the front, making some viewers think she had accidentally worn the jersey backwards.

Fans Mocked Sweeney’s Jersey Look

The suspected wardrobe mishap spread fast online.

“Why does it look like she’s wearing it backwards?” one fan asked. Another wrote, “Looks to me like her shirt is on backwards.” A third added, “Why is she wearing it backwards though?”

The reaction turned Sweeney’s courtside appearance into an unexpected talking point. She had shown up in clear Knicks-inspired gear, but instead of praise for her support, many viewers zeroed in on the shirt placement.

For a Finals game packed with celebrity sightings, that was enough to make her outfit one of the night’s side stories.

Knicks Fans Worried She Was Bad Luck

Sweeney’s appearance also triggered another reaction from Knicks fans: fear that she might jinx the team.

Some supporters were already tense as New York tried to close out the series against San Antonio. When photos of Sweeney courtside started circulating, fans began joking that the Knicks were in trouble. “Knicks are losing,” one user wrote under a photo of her. Another posted, “Spurs are winning.”

Not everyone was convinced she was bad luck. “Hopefully, she’ll be a good luck charm for the Knicks,” one more optimistic fan wrote.

Still, the jokes were blunt. Sweeney had gone from celebrity guest to possible courtside curse within minutes.

Sweeney And Braun Also Attended Game 4

Sweeney and Braun were also at Game 4 in New York earlier that week. Braun later said Sweeney had surprised him with tickets “in the same section” as his father and brother so he could share the night with them.

During that game, the pair sat several rows behind Taylor Swift as the Knicks picked up a crucial win. Sweeney and Braun were seen enjoying the matchup and sharing affectionate moments from their seats.

After the game, Braun marked the night with an Instagram post. “Still buzzing and haven’t slept all night as that was one of the greatest nights of my life,” he wrote. “That is what sports and basketball are all about. It brings people together.” His post included videos of him celebrating with his father, Ervin Braun, and his brother, Adam Braun.

The Courtside Fashion Talk Continued

Sweeney’s Knicks appearances have also brought attention to her game-day fashion.

At Madison Square Garden, she wore a windbreaker and customized vintage Manolo Blahnik heels featuring a miniature basketball charm.

She later headed to Los Angeles, where she appeared at a promotional event for her Syrn brand in a blue-and-white look paired with a Must de Cartier watch.

But by Game 5, the fashion conversation had shifted. Instead of her heels or courtside style, viewers were focused on whether she had worn her Knicks top the wrong way.

For Sweeney, it was likely just another high-profile sports appearance. For Knicks fans, it became something else: a jersey debate, a jinx joke, and another celebrity courtside moment that got messy online.
