Michael J. Fox just got the sweetest birthday shoutout from the woman who has stood beside him for nearly four decades.
The ‘Back to the Future’ star celebrated his 65th birthday Tuesday, and his wife, Tracy Pollan, marked the moment with a warm Instagram tribute. Pollan shared a photo of Fox sitting at a restaurant with his familiar smirk, along with another image of the couple smiling together near a waterfront view.
“Happy birthday, handsome! Thrilled to share another year with you. I love you, Mikes,” she wrote.
Fox kept his reply simple and loving.
“Thanks, sweetie… I love you!” he commented.
Michael J. Fox And Tracy Pollan’s Hollywood Love Story
Fox and Pollan remain one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples. They met on the set of ‘Family Ties’ in 1985 and married in Vermont in 1988.
Three years later, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The diagnosis changed their lives, but it did not break their bond.
In a 2023 interview on ‘CBS Mornings,’ Fox reflected on Pollan’s loyalty through the hardest chapters.
“I had no idea what to expect, and neither did she,” Fox said. “But for better or worse… in sickness, she was going to stick with me, and she has.”
He added that Pollan could have walked away at any point.
“At any point, she could have been forgiven for saying, ‘I need to step away,'” he said. “But she never did.”
Tracy Pollan Credits Fox’s Optimism
Pollan has said Fox’s humor and outlook helped guide their family through the disease.
“From the start, I fell in love with his humor and that brilliant mind of his,” she told Oprah Winfrey. “He’s incredibly smart.”
She said Fox’s acceptance of Parkinson’s made it easier for the people around him to adapt.
“His relaxed acceptance of his condition makes it easier for me, our children, and everyone around him,” she said.
The couple share four children: Sam, 37, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, 31, and Esmé, 24.
Their Children Continue To Show Up
Pollan has also praised their children for being deeply supportive.
“Michael was diagnosed before our daughters were born and very early in Sam’s life, so it’s really all they’ve ever known,” she told People.
She said their kids help often, while acknowledging that caregiving can be difficult.
“It’s incredibly challenging for the family, the caregivers, and obviously for the patient,” Pollan said. “It’s important to acknowledge that it’s not all smooth sailing.”
Still, after 37 years of marriage, Fox and Pollan continue to show up for each other. Her birthday tribute was not flashy. It did not need to be.
It was one more reminder that their love story has lasted through fame, illness, family life and time.
