Keith Urban stepped out at CMA Fest looking a little different, and fans noticed fast.
The country star appeared in Nashville on Thursday alongside fellow singer Russell Dickerson, wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. His hair drew the most attention. The 58-year-old’s usual style looked flatter than normal and appeared darker, giving him a sharper, more subdued look.
The appearance came during a heavy work stretch for Urban, who had CMA Fest performances booked for Friday and Saturday night, followed by a Grand Ole Opry appearance on June 10. Still, the new look landed at a sensitive time.

Keith Urban’s CMA Fest Appearance Drew Attention
Urban’s latest public outing followed fan concern over his appearance at the ACM Awards two weeks earlier.
At that event, some viewers said he looked “sad,” “anxious,” and “uncomfortable” while walking the red carpet. That reaction has now made every new appearance feel more closely watched.
The CMA Fest moment was not dramatic on its own. Urban showed up, posed, and continued his busy schedule. The issue is the timing. His public image is still being viewed through the lens of his split from Nicole Kidman.
His Family Life Has Been Under Scrutiny
Urban and Kidman separated in September 2025, and their divorce was finalized in January. Court documents stated that Kidman would be the primary residential parent of their two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15.
According to the documents, Kidman would care for the girls for 306 days of the year, while Urban would have 59 days, described as “every other weekend.”
The family dynamic drew more attention in April, when Sunday briefly unfollowed her father on Instagram before following him again.
Urban has reportedly not been seen publicly with his daughters since before the split was announced. Sunday also spoke warmly about Kidman in a March interview, calling her mother her “biggest inspiration in life.”
“My mom is someone who has always been so creative and my biggest inspiration in life,” she said. “She’s a key part of everything I do.”
She also shared advice Kidman had given her about showing up prepared. “The biggest piece of industry advice Mom has given to me is to always be on time,” Sunday said.
Nicole Kidman Has Kept Her Comments Careful
Neither Urban nor Kidman has spoken openly about the divorce in much detail.
Kidman told Variety that she is focused on moving her family forward while staying respectful.
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” the ‘Babygirl’ actress said. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”
She added, “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Their divorce documents reportedly state that neither parent can speak badly about the other or family members publicly or privately. The documents also say both should encourage the children to love the other parent and feel comfortable in both families.
For Urban, the work schedule continues. But after a divorce, fan concern, and a public style change, even a haircut-level shift can turn into a headline.
