Content Advisory: This article includes sharp political commentary and heated public criticism of President Donald Trump’s interview conduct.

President Donald Trump’s latest interview with Kristen Welker ended with a walkout, a tossed microphone, and a wave of online criticism.

The tense moment happened during a ‘Meet the Press’ interview in Wisconsin, where Trump grew angry after Welker pushed back on his election claims and questions tied to a reported $1.8 billion fund. The exchange quickly turned personal, with Trump attacking both the network and Welker before cutting the interview short.

“You’re a one-sided crooked network,” Trump told Welker. “Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time.”

He then removed the microphone from his blazer, dropped it, waved off Welker, and got up from his seat.

Trump Walked Out After Pushback

Trump complained about the interview setting and pointed to rain hitting the metal roof of the Wisconsin farm building where the conversation took place.

“I’ve sat in the rain with you,” Trump said.

Welker replied, “I traveled all the way to Wisconsin.”

Trump continued, “I sat in the rain with you for an hour. On and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”

The president then motioned for his team to leave and appeared to step on the mic as he walked out.

Welker later said Trump had agreed to another interview because of “complications” caused by the rain.

Critics Called The Moment ‘Unhinged’

The clip spread quickly online, with several journalists, political figures, and the general public weighing in.

CNN’s Jake Tapper called Trump’s behavior “wild” and “unhinged,” while defending Welker. “Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that,” Tapper wrote on X. He added that Trump “constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.”

Journalist Ahmed Baba also criticized Trump’s reaction. “Trump unravels when his delusional unreality faces the slightest pushback,” Baba wrote.

Another user argued that Trump gets treated differently from other public figures when he loses his temper. “Again, he gets graded on a curve,” the user wrote. “Dude is losing his calm because a reporter pushes back a bit on his lies, and he loses his temper, insults her, and walks out of the interview.”

The ‘Darling’ Remark Drew More Attention

Trump’s use of “darling” toward Welker also drew criticism from viewers who saw it as dismissive.

One commenter wrote that calling Welker “darling” showed Trump was “overwhelmed” and angry during the exchange.

Others questioned how Trump’s supporters could frame him as strong when he reacted so sharply to basic interview pushback. “It’s amazing that anyone views this man as strong when he throws tantrums like this on video,” one critic wrote.

Another person pointed to the central question Welker appeared to be pressing: evidence. “It’s a simple ask, what is your evidence?” the user wrote. “Extraordinary claims like election ‘rigging’ require extraordinary proof and evidence.”

For Trump, the walkout may have ended the interview. For critics, it gave them another clip to argue that he cannot handle direct questioning.
