Donald Trump lashed out at Barack Obama after a federal judge ordered his name removed from the Kennedy Center.
The president shared a controversial image on Truth Social showing a large garbage bin labeled “The Obama Presidential Library,” in an apparent jab at the former president and his presidential center in Chicago.
The post came shortly after Trump suffered a legal setback involving the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A federal judge ruled that the White House did not have the authority to place Trump’s name on the venue and ordered it removed from the building’s exterior, signage, and official materials within two weeks.
The timing made the Obama image look like a political counterpunch.

Trump Mocks Obama After Kennedy Center Ruling
The judge found that using Trump’s name on the Kennedy Center violated Congress’ statutory direction for the institution.
The order requires the removal of “TRUMP” from the center’s façade, as well as physical signage, digital signage, and official materials.
Within hours, Trump posted a lengthy response claiming the Kennedy Center had been losing large amounts of money before he got involved.
“The Kennedy Center has lost, over the years, prior to our getting involved a short while ago, Hundreds of Millions of Dollars,” Trump wrote.
He claimed he had taken pride in trying to turn the institution into a “Great and Prestigious WINNER” for Washington, D.C., and the country.
Trump Says Courts Treated Him Unfairly
Trump then accused the judge and political opponents of wanting the Kennedy Center to fail rather than allowing him to reshape it.
“Unfortunately, Judge Cooper and the Radical Left would rather see it DIE than have President Trump transform it into something that everyone could be proud of,” he wrote.
He also pointed to other renovation and beautification projects he claimed had improved Washington, D.C., including work on fountains, monuments, and other public spaces. Trump ended by arguing that no president has been treated more unfairly by the courts. “There has never been a President of the United States who has been treated so unfairly by the Courts as I,” he wrote.
Kennedy Family Reacts To Court Decision
Maria Shriver, the niece of former President John F. Kennedy, also responded to the ruling. She described the decision as an “appropriate birthday present” on the anniversary of her uncle’s birth. Shriver noted that the Trump administration could still appeal and that the “story isn’t over,” but said the family would celebrate the ruling for now.
For Trump, the ruling was another legal and public-image loss. For critics, his Obama garbage-bin post only made the fallout look more personal. The court ordered Trump’s name taken down from the Kennedy Center. Trump responded by dragging Obama’s presidential library into the fight.
