Will Smith’s ex-wife Sheree Zampino is taking legal action after she says an online interview dragged her name into an ugly Hollywood accusation.
Zampino, 58, has sued Bilaal Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal, for more than $1 million. Salaam is a former friend and associate of Smith, and he has publicly discussed the actor and his family in several interviews over the years.
Now, Zampino claims he crossed a serious line.
According to a complaint filed May 27 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Zampino accused Salaam of slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress over remarks he allegedly made during an appearance on the YouTube series ‘Unwine With Tasha K’.

Zampino Says The Claims Were False
Zampino, who was married to Smith from 1992 to 1995, alleges Salaam falsely portrayed her as “promiscuous.”
The lawsuit points to a promotional clip released May 4 that allegedly included text claiming Salaam said Smith’s ex-wife had been involved with “everyone in Hollywood.” The filing also alleges Salaam repeatedly used a very derogatory term for Zampino during the interview and claimed she was involved with people across Hollywood.
Zampino’s complaint says the statements were “entirely false” and amounted to “slander per se” under California law. Her legal team also claims Salaam either knew the statements were false or acted “with reckless disregard as to their truth.”
Lawsuit Says She Was Caught In Smith Family Feud
The complaint frames Zampino as someone pulled into a long-running public fight involving Salaam and the Smith family.
“Plaintiff Sheree Zampino has been caught in the crossfire of Defendant Bilaal Salaam’s ongoing vendetta against her former husband, actor Will Smith,” the complaint states. The filing adds that Salaam had previously focused his attacks on Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith before allegedly turning his attention to Zampino.
Zampino says the comments caused “humiliation, embarrassment, emotional distress, mental anguish, and damage to her reputation.” She is seeking compensatory damages of more than $1 million, along with punitive damages.
Salaam Has History With Smith Family Claims
Salaam previously made headlines in 2023 after claiming during another appearance on ‘Unwine With Tasha K’ that he witnessed Smith in a physical act with actor Duane Martin. Jada Pinkett Smith later dismissed those claims as “ridiculous” and “nonsense.”
The legal drama did not stop there. In December 2025, Salaam sued Pinkett Smith for $3 million, alleging she threatened him after he publicly discussed her marriage. Pinkett Smith later filed a motion seeking dismissal of parts of that lawsuit. She also recently secured a court order requiring Salaam to pay $32,836 in attorney fees and legal costs after partially prevailing.
Now Zampino has filed her own case, and the Smith family orbit has another legal fight on its hands.
