Demi Moore just gave Cannes a major hair switch-up, and fans are taking notice.
The 63-year-old actress arrived at the premiere of ‘La Bola Negra’ during the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, May 21, with a much shorter hairstyle than her usual waist-grazing look. Instead of her signature long dark hair, Moore walked the red carpet with a glamorous shoulder-length lob.
The change gave her Cannes appearance a sharper, fresher feel. It also marked another style surprise from an actress who has been playing more boldly with her image this year.
Demi Moore Debuts Shorter Hair At Cannes
Moore wore a floor-length sapphire blue gown by Self-Portrait for the premiere. The custom design featured an oversized bow detail and a short train, giving the look a dramatic red-carpet finish.
The gown was created by Self-Portrait founder and creative director Han Chong and made in the British fashion house’s London atelier.
Moore completed the look with a statement necklace and black sling-back pumps. Her hair did the rest of the talking.
The Oscar nominee wore her dark brunette lob parted to the side and styled in soft, voluminous curls that barely touched her shoulders. It was elegant, camera-ready, and a noticeable break from the long hair fans often associate with her.
For longtime Demi watchers, this was not her first shorter-hair shock of the year.
Her Milan Fashion Week Bob Also Had Fans Talking
Moore previously surprised fans during Milan Fashion Week on Feb. 26, when she attended Gucci’s FW26 Fashion Show at Palazzo Delle Scintille.
For that appearance, she traded her famous long hair for a wet-look bob. Celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos created the style and later called it the “Demi-tris BoB” in an Instagram post.
“I wanted to give Demi a very bold and fashion forward look for [Gucci creative director] Demna’s show,” Giannetos said in a press release.
He said the style took inspiration from the new collection’s silhouettes and was meant to complement her full Gucci look.
“It’s a big change for Demi – we’ve never seen her like this before!” he added. “She looks very cool, effortless and modern. And it highlights her personality.”
At the Gucci show, Moore paired the wet-look bob with an all-leather ensemble, including a fitted black jacket and slim black pants. Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski put the look together, and Moore finished it with large shades, black stilettos, and a black handbag.
Demi Moore Keeps A Busy Screen Schedule
Moore’s latest Cannes appearance comes as her acting schedule stays active.
She stars in ‘I Love Boosters,’ which opened in theaters Friday, May 22. She also appears in the Paramount+ series ‘Landman.’
For now, though, the hair is getting plenty of attention. Moore has spent decades making long, glossy hair part of her public image. This shorter Cannes look shows she can still surprise people with one clean beauty move.
