Sabrina Carpenter is turning 27 with a fresh hair switch-up and a birthday look built for attention.
The ‘Espresso’ singer marked her birthday on May 11 with an Instagram carousel that showed off her natural texture, trading her usual blowout and full bangs for wild shoulder-length curls.
“You know it’s your birthday when people start wishing you happy birthday,” Carpenter captioned the post.
The hair was the headline. The dress did plenty of work too.
Sabrina Carpenter Shows Off Birthday Curls
Carpenter wore an eggplant-colored satin bodycon dress with a plunging neckline, tiered fringe, and a large floral detail at the center. The look had a playful old-Hollywood feel, but the curls gave it a looser, more relaxed birthday energy.
She finished the look with peep-toe heels, hot pink blush, beige eyeshadow, and a stained lip.
For fans used to seeing Carpenter with her signature sculpted hair and bangs, the natural curls were a clear shift. The birthday post felt less staged than some of her recent red carpet moments, while still staying very much inside her glam-pop lane.

Her Met Gala Weekend Was Already Full Of Big Looks
Carpenter’s birthday post came right after a busy Met Gala weekend.
At the 2026 Met Gala, she walked the red carpet in a custom Christian Dior look made with film from Audrey Hepburn’s ‘Sabrina’. The reference was almost too perfect, and very on-brand for a singer who has leaned heavily into cinematic styling.
After the gala, Carpenter changed into another standout look for the after-party she co-hosted with Madonna. She later shared photos from the night with her 51.1 million Instagram followers, including a shot taken by her sister, Sarah. In the carousel, Carpenter posed in a white top with gold fringe accents and silver rhinestones. She paired it with a sequined robe with black-and-white trim.
Sabrina Keeps Leaning Into Movie-Star Styling
Carpenter also shared shots from the after-party with friends, including photo booth moments and a dance with Madonna.
Another look kept the movie theme going. She wore a red beaded Jeremy Scott dress designed to look like a movie ticket, complete with “Admit One” and printed numbers across the front.
That detail matched the larger style story she has been building. Between the Dior ‘Sabrina’ reference, the ticket-inspired dress, and now the birthday curls, Carpenter is clearly having fun with image-making.
Her 27th birthday post did not need a huge explanation. The message was simple: new year, new curls, same full-volume Sabrina.
