Britney Spears is leaning into symbolism after her DUI plea deal, and she picked a very familiar image to do it.
The 44-year-old singer shared a new Instagram post on Saturday, May 9, showing herself handling a baby snake during a trip to a pet store with her sons. For longtime fans, the image immediately called back to one of the most famous moments of her career: her 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance of ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’, where she carried a 7-foot yellow albino Burmese python onstage.
This time, Spears framed the snake as part of something more personal.
“Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is,” Spears wrote. “Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck…”

Spears also used the post to reflect on her recent state of mind, describing the past few weeks as part of a “spiritual journey.”
“I’m so thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey,” she wrote, calling them “a blessing in disguise.”
The singer added that she is still learning how to treat herself with more kindness.
“I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself,” Spears wrote. “It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!”
The post came after a difficult stretch for Spears, both personally and legally.
DUI Case Led To Plea Deal
Spears was arrested near her home on March 4 after a test reportedly found her blood alcohol content at .06. That is below California’s legal limit of .08 for drivers 21 and older.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” her spokesperson said on March 5. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
The rep also said Spears would be spending time with her sons, Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
A source said Preston and Jayden “played a big part” in encouraging their mother to check into rehab on April 12.
“Britney went to rehab after several conversations with both of her sons,” an insider said. “They expressed concern about her recent behavior and urged her to seek professional help.”
Spears Faces Probation And DUI Class
Spears was charged on April 30 with one count related to driving under the influence. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office later confirmed she would be offered a “wet reckless” plea deal.
That resolution would place her on probation for 12 months, require her to complete a DUI class, and include state-mandated fines and fees.
The DA’s office said this kind of offer is common in cases involving no prior DUI history, low blood alcohol level, and no crash or injury.
For Spears, the snake photo may look playful at first glance. Still, the timing gives it a heavier meaning. After the arrest, rehab reports, and plea deal, she seems to be telling fans she is trying to move through the mess with some kind of faith, luck, and self-repair.
