Tom Cruise may have the money, the movie career, and the action-star image, but sources claim his love life is still missing one thing: staying power.
The 63-year-old actor is worth an estimated $600 million, owns luxury homes, and remains one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars. He has multiple projects ahead, including another ‘Top Gun’ installment and a film with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
But after three divorces and several high-profile relationships that fizzled, insiders say Cruise may be the biggest obstacle in his own search for love.
Tom Cruise’s Career Reportedly Comes First
Cruise’s most recent relationship with Ana de Armas reportedly ended in October 2025 after nearly a year.
Before that, he was married to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes. He has also been linked to Penélope Cruz and his ‘Mission: Impossible’ co-star Hayley Atwell.
A source claimed Cruise’s intense work ethic makes romance difficult.
“Tom’s work will always come first, regardless of who he’s dating,” the insider said. “That’s been a major issue over the years.”
The source added, “He puts on a brave face, but he’s clearly lonely right now.”
Cruise has admitted how consuming his work life can be. In May, he said, “I work seven days a week. I live on movie sets and editing rooms and that’s been my life.” He added, “I just finished another movie [and] I have four other movies that we’re lining up.”
Insiders Say His Grand Gestures Can Be Too Much
Cruise is known for going big in relationships.
He reportedly spent more than $11,000 on a U.K. trip with de Armas, including a private helicopter ride. He also reportedly gave her a custom perfume made in France.
With Holmes, Cruise famously sent a limousine filled with roses and chocolates to her home and proposed at the Eiffel Tower just two months into their romance.
That kind of attention can feel romantic at first. Sources say it can also overwhelm. “He’s so hyper-intense with the women he’s dating,” one insider claimed. “The way he jumps into everything can be a turn-off.”
Another source described the pattern as “high-end love bombing.” “Tom’s better at the big, grand gestures than he is at day-to-day intimacy,” the insider said. “That’s his Achilles’ heel.”
Scientology May Also Limit His Dating Pool
Cruise’s longtime commitment to Scientology is also said to complicate his romantic life. “Some women who date Tom are worried they’ll also need to join,” a source claimed.
The late Mike Rinder, a former Scientologist who co-hosted ‘Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath,’ wrote in his 2022 memoir that the organization created distance between Cruise and Kidman before their divorce. Holmes’ split from Cruise has also long been linked in public reports to concerns around Scientology. “It’s such a crucial part of his life and shapes his every decision,” the insider said.
Cruise reportedly leans on his older children, Isabella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom he shares with Kidman. He also shares daughter Suri, 20, with Holmes.
A source said Cruise is hoping Isabella and her husband, Max Parker, will spend more time near him in Florida after he left his London home following a nearby robbery at a Rolex store.
For now, insiders say Cruise has not given up on love. He is reportedly trying to treat his recent romantic setbacks as bad luck rather than a permanent pattern.
But if the claims are accurate, his problem may be brutally simple. Cruise knows how to create a movie-star romance. Keeping one alive off-camera seems to be the harder part.
