What is on Nicole Kidman’s Mind After Her Divorce from Keith Urban?

Nicole Kidman is stepping into single life the way she has handled so much else in public: with control, perspective, and a clear sense of what matters most.

Following her divorce from Keith Urban last fall, the Oscar winner appears focused less on reinvention and more on protecting the life she built, especially for her daughters. Kidman has not turned the split into a public drama. Instead, she seems to be doing what she has always done best: keep moving, keep working, and keep her family at the center of it all.

Nicole Kidman Is Keeping Nashville and Her Daughters at the Center

Kidman made it clear earlier this year that she is holding tightly to the life she and Urban built in Nashville, where they raised daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. Speaking in March, she said she was “always going to be moving toward what’s good” and stressed that her focus was on her family and “keeping them as is and moving forward.”

That line says a lot about where she is now. For Kidman, single life does not appear to mean blowing everything up. It means protecting stability.

Nashville remains a huge part of that. She has called it home for 20 years and said she is deeply connected to the city and its community. That grounding seems to matter just as much to her daughters. Sunday, who has started building a fashion profile with brands like Miu Miu and Dior, recently said that regular high school life in Nashville helps keep her balanced even as new opportunities open up.

Kidman, by all accounts, is still the steady hand in the middle of that.

Work, Travel, and a New Phase of Life

Professionally, Kidman is hardly slowing down. After a quieter 2025, which she said came because of “other things going on,” she is now charging into 2026 with a full slate and a very different mindset.

She has already traveled to Chile, Antarctica, Paris, New York, Hollywood, and Las Vegas this year, juggling work, fashion, and major appearances, including helping tease ‘Practical Magic 2’, due out Sept. 11. She has also been promoting ‘Scarpetta’ and continuing the kind of steady, high-level acting career that has defined her for decades.

At the same time, she is giving more attention to the personal goals she may once have pushed aside. Kidman recently revealed she is training to become a death doula, a choice inspired by the 2024 death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman. She described the experience as “really fascinating” and said she has discovered she actually has the temperament for that kind of deeply emotional role.

That says something important about this chapter. She is not just staying busy. She is widening her life.

She Is Not Retiring Into Quiet Domesticity

If anything, Kidman sounds more energized than diminished. She said this year and the next few years are for “the adventures” and made it clear she still pushes back against limits, both in her career and in her personal life.

Even so, there is one place where she is drawing a line. Her daughters come first. Kidman admitted that while she would love to return to the stage, “now is not the time” because she needs to take care of her kids and fill her summer with “kid stuff.”

That may be the clearest picture of her single life right now. She is working, traveling, learning, planning, and still dreaming bigger. But she is also making sure home stays home.
