Sydney Sweeney may have made it to the set of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, but not to the final cut.
After photos of the ‘Euphoria’ star heading to the sequel’s set in 2025 sparked chatter that she had joined the stylish follow-up, it has now emerged that her cameo was filmed and later removed. According to a source, Sweeney shot a short scene near the beginning of the film, but the moment was ultimately dropped for creative reasons.
That is the part likely to catch fans off guard. She was not just rumored to appear. She actually did, briefly, before the movie moved in another direction.
What Sydney Sweeney’s Deleted Scene Was Supposed to Show
According to the source, Sweeney played herself in a roughly three-minute scene tied to Emily Charlton’s introduction. In the sequel, Emily, played again by Emily Blunt, is now running Dior’s U.S. operation. When Andy Sachs, Miranda Priestly, and Nigel Kipling arrive at Dior looking for help, the original version of that sequence reportedly opened with Emily at work styling a celebrity client, played by Sweeney.
It sounds like the sort of quick, glossy cameo that would fit naturally inside the film’s fashion-heavy world. But even scenes that look good on paper do not always survive the final edit.
The explanation from the source was that the scene did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence. The team was said to be grateful Sweeney took part, and cutting it was not an easy call.

Why the Cut Still Matters
The removal is notable because Sweeney is one of the biggest young stars who could have added another layer of buzz to a sequel that already has plenty of it. The movie brings back Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, while also adding names like Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Simone Ashley, Rachel Bloom, and Kenneth Branagh.
The film’s story centers on Andy reuniting with Miranda and Nigel to help save Runway as the publication struggles in a chaotic media climate. Emily, now a major fashion executive, becomes part of that effort.
Even without Sweeney, the sequel is still packed with star power. Lady Gaga appears in the film, and she also recorded ‘Runway’ with Doechii for the soundtrack. That means the cameo bench is hardly empty. Still, Sweeney being cut will likely get attention because fans had already been primed to expect something from her.
The timing adds another layer too. Sweeney has already returned to HBO’s ‘Euphoria’, appearing in the first two episodes of season three earlier this month. So while her ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’ moment did not make it to theaters, she is hardly disappearing from view.
