Shakira is making it very clear that her new era is about more than revenge, heartbreak, or giant stadium crowds. The singer is using her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’ to push a message about women backing each other, and she put it in the bluntest possible terms. In her words, there is a “special place in hell” for women who do not support other women.
The comment came during an appearance on the Spanish late-night show ‘Al Cielo Con Ella,’ where host Henar Álvarez asked Shakira about one of the most talked-about pieces of her current tour: ‘The 10 Commandments of a She-Wolf.’ One line in particular stood out. “A She-Wolf doesn’t attack, she defends.”
Shakira Explains What Her ‘She-Wolf’ Message Really Means
Álvarez playfully pushed back on that idea, asking, “Are we sure about that, Shakira? You don’t think that sometimes an attack is the best defense?”
Shakira did not hesitate. “No, what I emphasize a lot with these 10 She-Wolf commandments are two things: self-love, which is very important, and love for the pack,” she said. “To not compete, to help and support each other mutually, especially amongst women.”
She then tied that idea to a famous quote from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. “Like Madeleine Albright said with the incredible phrase, ‘There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,’” Shakira said. “I think that’s what I base it on, and that’s the cornerstone of where the 10 Commandments of the She-Wolves are established from.”
That line is what really grabbed attention. It is sharp, direct, and very much in step with how Shakira has been framing this current chapter of her career.
Her Tour Message Also Carries Some Very Personal Shade
Of course, fans know there is personal history sitting behind all this. Shakira’s split from Gerard Piqué in June 2022 became global news after allegations that he cheated with his now-girlfriend Clara Chia Martí.
That context matters because some fans have pointed out that Shakira’s tour still includes a pretty pointed dig. The ninth She-Wolf commandment reads, “She-Wolves will not covet their neighbors’ possessions. ¡Claramente!”
The word “claramente,” which means “clearly” in Spanish, also doubles as a pun on Clara’s name. It is the kind of detail her fans clock instantly, especially since she used the same wordplay in ‘BZRP Music Session #53,’ the track that turned her breakup into one of pop culture’s biggest post-split moments.
So yes, Shakira is preaching solidarity and support. She is also keeping her claws sharp.
And she is doing it all in front of massive crowds. After drawing 400,000 fans in Mexico City in March, she is heading back to the U.S. for more arena shows through July 25. On May 2, she is also set to perform at Copacabana Beach in Brazil, where organizers expect around 1 million people.
