Jennifer Lopez is single, but she is not making herself easy to reach.
The 56-year-old singer and actress made that clear during the June 8 episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live,’ where Andy Cohen asked whether she checks her direct messages.
Lopez did not leave much room for confusion. “No,” she said.
Cohen then pushed the question a little further, asking what would happen if “some amazing Spanish soccer player” sent her a message. Lopez still did not sound convinced. “I think they would be able to find me, no?” she replied. “If you really wanted to find me, you could find me.”
That was the rule. No lazy Instagram approach. No sliding into her messages and hoping for the best. “You’re not going to find me through Instagram or sliding into my DMs,” Lopez said. “You have to make more of an effort than that.”
Jennifer Lopez Is Not Looking For Low-Effort Romance
Lopez has always made romance part of her public story, but her latest comment was less fairy tale and more boundary.
The ‘Office Romance’ star seemed to suggest that anyone serious about dating her would need to go beyond a quick social media message. For Lopez, access still comes with effort.
Her appearance also had full star power. She wore a tiered white Elisabetta Franchi dress with dramatic ruffles and a high neckline, then added a black blazer. Dolce & Gabbana accessories finished the look, including a leather tote, sunglasses, and lace-up shoes.
Her Single Era Came After Ben Affleck
Lopez has been single since her split from Ben Affleck.
She filed for divorce in the summer of 2024, and the divorce was finalized in January 2025. The end of their marriage came after their high-profile reunion, wedding, and another round of public breakup attention.
In May, Lopez confirmed her single status during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
“I should have done it sooner!” she told Kimmel. She then admitted, “I’ve been doing it all wrong. Trust me.”
Lopez also made it clear she is enjoying this new phase. “I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now,” she said. “It’s fantastic. I love it.”
Lopez Is Focused On A Family Shift
Dating does not seem to be her main priority right now.
Lopez is preparing for her 18-year-old twins to head to college in the fall, and she sounded emotional about that change.
“It’s been the three of us,” she said on ‘Watch What Happens Live.’ “People have come in and out of my life, but it’s been the three of us. They’ve always been there, and I’ve always been there.” She added, “I just never thought they would not be there.” Lopez said she has given her children “roots and wings,” but that does not make the transition easy.
So, what does her dating future look like? For now, Lopez sounds happy, protective, and not impressed by low-effort attention.
