Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s breakup is already getting messy.
Just days after news broke that the former couple had split, Hewitt, 30, appeared to suggest she is handling life with their 5-month-old daughter, Scottie Rose, mostly by herself. Davidson, 32, is now being defended by a source close to him, who says the comedian was caught off guard by the claim.
The drama began after Hewitt posted a TikTok on Saturday, May 16, responding to criticism over her casual appearance in paparazzi photos.
“That’s not what I’m thinking about right now, because I have a baby to take care of, and I also have to work and make money, and I’m doing it on my own, which is hard,” Hewitt said.

Elsie Hewitt Hints She Is Parenting Alone
Hewitt’s comments immediately raised eyebrows.
In the TikTok comments, she liked a response from one user who said that “not staying with your partner” while they are postpartum is “insanely loser behavior.” The same commenter called it “the most vulnerable time in a woman’s life.” Hewitt appears to have later removed the like.
Another user wrote that they hoped Hewitt did not mean she was handling the financial side alone. Hewitt responded in a since-deleted comment, “I am :).”
That same day, she posted on Instagram Stories that she was looking for an assistant, mother’s helper, nanny type, or “right hand person.” She said the job would be paid and asked only qualified applicants with resumes to respond.
Source Says Pete Davidson Is Supporting Scottie
A source close to Davidson pushed back against Hewitt’s apparent claims.
“Pete has made himself extremely available and has provided financial support,” the insider said. “Pete is actually covering all Scottie costs and more.” The source added, “He is hoping Elsie has good health and success for the sake of their daughter.”
The statement makes the split sound less like a quiet breakup and more like a developing co-parenting dispute. Publicly, Hewitt is describing exhaustion and pressure. Davidson’s side is saying he has been present and financially involved.
Their Fast Romance Hit New Parenthood Pressure
Davidson and Hewitt were first linked in March 2025. They announced in July that they were expecting their first child together, and Scottie was born on Dec. 12, 2025.
A source previously said the pair were already struggling during Hewitt’s pregnancy because things moved so quickly. “They’re not getting along right now,” an insider said after the split. “Things just happened so quickly between them, and they didn’t know each other very well.”
Before the breakup, another source said they were trying to adjust to parenthood and work through issues.
Now, the relationship is over, the baby is still tiny, and both sides appear to be working out what co-parenting will actually look like.
