Global music icon Rihanna barely survived a terrifying midnight ambush at her Los Angeles estate. The “‘Umbrella'” singer and partner A$AP Rocky found themselves in the literal line of fire on March 8. A heavily armed intruder allegedly unleashed a hail of bullets on their luxury property.

The alleged shooter is 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz. She just pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. The prosecution paints a horrifying picture of this near-fatal night.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were spending the evening inside an Airstream trailer. This trailer was parked on their sprawling compound. That is when Ortiz allegedly opened fire with an assault-style rifle. Police report that roughly 20 rounds ripped through the night.
Rihanna told authorities she heard the deafening sound of bullets striking the metal exterior. She pulled back the curtains only to discover fresh bullet holes in the windshield. In Los Angeles County Superior Court, Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott stated the shooter acted in an “extremely dangerous” manner. “This case involves a dangerous, deliberate shooting into occupied homes,” Bott said. “This is the kind of conduct that could easily have resulted in multiple homicides.”
The police apprehended Ortiz in a vehicle shortly after the chaos. They found her equipped with a rifle, heaps of ammunition, and a wig for a disguise.
The Florida native is now facing one count of attempted murder directly involving Rihanna. She also faces 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Ortiz remains locked up on a massive $1.875 million bail and is due back in court on April 8. A conviction could result in life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Judge Theresa McGonigle also suspended Ortiz’s California license to practice as a speech-language pathologist.
