Park Soo Hong has been officially cleared of allegations that he threatened the CEO of a food company.
Park Soo Hong’s attorney, Chae Ui Joon of Taeha Law Firm, announced on Friday, “Park Soo Hong, who was accused of threats in July, has been officially cleared of all charges.”
The allegations arose in July, when the CEO filed a complaint claiming that Park Soo Hong had threatened him. Park Soo Hong responded at the time, “I wasn’t even formally served with the complaint and only learned about it through media reports. The widespread coverage seems like a media tactic aimed at harming my public image.”
Earlier, in September 2023, Park Soo Hong had filed a lawsuit against the CEO’s company, seeking roughly 500 million KRW (around 343,410 USD) in unpaid fees for using his likeness in advertisements for over a year. The case is currently being heard at the Suwon District Court, Seongnam branch. Reports indicate that the CEO had refused a mediation decision requiring partial payment of Park Soo Hong’s modeling fees and had also failed to settle payments with associated manufacturers, which led to the complaint.
In his accusation, the CEO alleged, “When Park Soo Hong’s demands were not met, he used his status as a famous entertainer and the influence of his legal team to pressure me, claiming that an associate would bankrupt the company and harm our partner vendors.”
Chae Ui Joon clarified, “Park Soo Hong fully cooperated with the police investigation. On October 20, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul issued a no prosecution decision, confirming that there was no basis for the allegations. It is now clear that the accusations of threats were completely unfounded.”
Chae Ui Joon added that the claims were baseless from the start: “The CEO alleged that Park Soo Hong made threatening remarks through his legal representative. However, Park Soo Hong never made such statements, nor did he instruct his lawyer to do so. Filing the complaint directly against Park Soo Hong, rather than the person actually involved, appears to have been an attempt to damage the image of a well-known celebrity. This is a clear case of false accusations.”
He concluded, “Since the police investigation has confirmed that the CEO’s claims were completely false, we will consider taking strong legal action against any future attempts to defame Park Soo Hong’s reputation.”
