[Photo Courtesy of Ego Nwodim] During a recent appearance on the talk show ‘Sherri’ on November 5, Nwodim reflected on her departure from ‘SNL’ after a seven-year stint. “I’ve never been married, but I’ve heard about the ‘seven-year itch,'” she quipped. The comedian expressed her eagerness to explore new horizons and her excitement for what the future holds. Nwodim fondly recalled her time on the show, saying, “I learned so much and had an incredible experience. While I’ll miss my colleagues, I feel it’s time to carve out a different space for myself in this industry.”

When host Sherri Shepherd asked about the lack of Black women currently on ‘SNL,’ Nwodim responded, “I’m hopeful we’ll see more Black women join the cast in the future.” She added, “It was truly an honor to be the seventh Black woman to grace the ‘SNL’ stage.”

She’s currently at the helm of a podcast titled ‘Thanks Dad,’ which recently made waves by featuring former ‘SNL’ castmate Heidi Gardner as a guest. This move highlights Nwodim’s commitment to maintaining relationships with her former colleagues, even as she embarks on new ventures.
