
Following the devastating fire in Hong Kong, K-pop group GIDLE, which includes Chinese member Yuqi, has extended support to the affected community. Newsis reported on the 28th that the Fosun Foundation announced through social media that GIDLE donated 1 million CNY 141,170 USD to assist victims of the massive blaze in the Tai Po District.
The donation will fund emergency relief efforts in the impacted areas, with both the group and the foundation expressing condolences and hopes for recovery for the victims, their families, and all affected residents. On the 26th, Yuqi used her personal social media to share her wishes for everyones safety in light of the tragedy.
GIDLE joins other contributors including K-pop groups aespa and RIIZE and their agency SM Entertainment, all of whom made meaningful donations for the victims. All three groups are scheduled to perform at the 2025 MAMA Awards, organized by CJ ENM and set for the 28th and 29th at Hong Kongs Kai Tak Stadium, where organizers have decided to adopt a more subdued tone in respect for the victims.
