Keanu Reeves is not exactly easy to impress. But when it came to sharing the screen with Martin Scorsese, even he sounded a little starstruck.

Reeves opened up about working with the legendary filmmaker in ‘Outcome’, the upcoming Apple TV+ dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill. While Scorsese is best known for directing classics like ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Goodfellas’, and ‘The Departed’, this time he steps in front of the camera, and Reeves made it clear the experience left a mark.

For Reeves, acting alongside Scorsese was not just another day on set. It was the kind of moment even a longtime Hollywood star stops to take in.

Keanu Reeves Calls Acting With Scorsese “Very Special”

In the new film, Reeves plays Hollywood actor Reef Hawk, a man trying to track down a blackmailer tied to an extortion scheme threatening to blow up his life. Scorsese appears as a washed-up agent for young actors, giving the project an extra layer of intrigue.

Speaking about the experience, Reeves did not hide how much the moment meant to him. “We know the career and just the talent, so for me, that was a very special day,” he said.

He added, “I had the chance to meet him over the years a couple of times, but in my wildest hopes, imagination and dream to act with Martin Scorsese is like… What is happening? He’s so good.”

Reeves also hinted at the emotional dynamic between their characters, saying, “There’s kind of a father-son thing going on there. He’s playing a character that really supported me in my youth.”

Why ‘Outcome’ Is Getting Attention

Reeves said one of the things that made ‘Outcome’ click was the freedom on set. Along with a cast that includes Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, he described the filming process as playful and full of energy.

“There was script, and then there was improvisation,” he said. “I thought the dynamic that we had was really cool and fun, the way that we could all play off each other.”

He also described the film as a “cautionary comedy,” pointing to its themes around public accountability and modern culture. “It’s one of those things where you’re looking forward, but then you look back,” Reeves said. “I think it’s cool when stories talk about the times and culture and who we are and you know what we’re creating. I like it when they do.”

What makes ‘Outcome’ stand out more is the combination at its center. Reeves and Scorsese have never acted together before, and Scorsese’s appearance in a dark Hollywood comedy is enough on its own to get people curious.

For Reeves, though, the bigger takeaway seems simple. He got to sit opposite one of cinema’s most respected names and came away genuinely moved by it. “He’s so tender,” Reeves said. “And just to sit in those moments with him was very special.”
