Alec Baldwin just got roasted by his own daughter on his birthday.
The ’30 Rock’ alum turned 68 on Friday, April 3, and marked the day with a playful Instagram video featuring several of his kids. But the clip quickly became less about the birthday candles and more about the age gap between Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, 42, after daughter Carmen, 12, dropped a joke that was way too good to ignore.
“Hey, it’s me. It’s my birthday. I’m 68 years old. What can I say? I’m 68,” Baldwin said in the video. “I’m 68 years old, what a way to turn 68. My favorite birthday before this was 40. That was a while ago.”
Carmen jumped in, “That was a really long time ago.”
When Alec asked, “How long ago was it, Carmen?” his daughter fired back, “Um, so Mommy was 14?” before breaking into laughter.
Carmen’s Joke Put the Age Gap Front and Center
Carmen’s joke landed hard because it touched the family’s most talked-about stat. Alec and Hilaria have a 26-year age gap, and clearly, even the kids know it is part of the public chatter around them. Baldwin leaned into the joke in his caption, writing, “God help me. It’s elder abuse.”
The moment had that messy, funny family energy, even though it was just a birthday clip. After all, Carmen was saying what half the internet was already thinking.
Alec and Hilaria married in 2012 and share seven children: Carmen, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 5, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2. Baldwin is also father to Ireland Baldwin, 29, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
Hilaria Has Already Talked About the 26-Year Difference
The birthday jab also comes months after Hilaria openly discussed the couple’s age difference. Speaking on the ‘Uncut and Uncensored with Caroline Stanbury’ podcast in November, she said, “I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation.”
She added, “I think that there’s certain things where I have to look at him and say he has 26 more years of experience. And sometimes that’s a flex, and sometimes that means that we need to do a little therapy.”
Hilaria also said one lesson she has learned is that you “can’t please everybody,” adding that by the time you reach your 40s, knowing “what you want” matters more.
The Baldwins have kept that same joking tone online in recent months. Over the holidays, the couple shared snowy family footage set to Chuck Berry’s ‘Run Rudolph Run’, followed by another clip of Alec wiping out on a tube as Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin” played in the background. Hilaria kept that one simple: “No one was harmed in the making of this video.”
Now Carmen has added her own entry to the family highlight reel, and honestly, it may be the funniest one yet.
