Chris Pratt may be one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, but at home, he’s just dad—and his youngest kids have no idea just how famous he is.
In a recent interview with Today while promoting his return as Mario in the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Pratt revealed that his children with Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt haven’t seen any movies at all. The actor said his five-year-old, three-year-old, and one-year-old are growing up without screen time, at least for now.
According to Pratt, the decision comes from his wife’s parenting philosophy. He explained that Katherine prefers a more traditional approach when it comes to technology, choosing to limit exposure to screens during their early years. For the couple, that means holding off on movies entirely.
While that might seem surprising given Pratt’s career, he appeared fully on board with the plan. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star said they’re intentionally waiting before introducing their children to films, even ones he stars in.
That also means his kids haven’t yet experienced his voice work as Mario or seen him in any of his blockbuster roles. For now, Pratt joked, they don’t quite see him as the action hero the rest of the world knows.
Still, he’s confident that will eventually change. Pratt shared that he believes there will come a time when his children realize what he does for a living and start to see him in a different light. Until then, he seems content enjoying life outside the spotlight at home.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger share three children together—Lyla, Eloise, and Ford. He also has a 13-year-old son, Jack, from his previous marriage to actress Anna Faris. As his younger kids grow up, it may only be a matter of time before they discover their dad’s larger-than-life career.
