A Florida woman accused of opening fire outside Rihanna’s Los Angeles home had reportedly posted a series of disturbing messages about the singer on social media in the weeks leading up to the incident. Authorities say the online activity is now a key part of the ongoing investigation.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, has been charged with attempted murder after police allege she fired multiple rounds from an AR-15-style rifle at Rihanna’s Beverly Crest property on March 8. Bail has been set at more than $10 million, and she remains in custody. Rihanna was inside the home at the time along with A$AP Rocky and their three children, but no injuries were reported.
Investigators say posts linked to Ortiz included direct references to Rihanna and her ex, Drake. In one message, she reportedly tagged Rihanna’s Instagram account and made unverified claims about the singer. Other posts referenced Drake and suggested a personal fixation involving both artists. Authorities are also reviewing older videos and content in which Ortiz made additional alarming remarks about multiple celebrities.
The shooting unfolded in the early afternoon when police received reports of gunfire near the property. According to dispatch audio, at least 10 shots were fired from a white Tesla parked outside the home. Several bullets struck the front gate and exterior walls. Officers later recovered a rifle and shell casings from the suspect’s vehicle.
Law enforcement tracked the vehicle to a shopping center roughly eight miles away, where Ortiz was taken into custody about 30 minutes after the initial emergency call. Neighbors described the incident as shocking, noting that the quiet, upscale neighborhood rarely sees that kind of activity.
Ortiz’s background is now under scrutiny as investigators work to determine a motive. Records show prior arrests in Florida, including a domestic violence-related case in 2023. She is reportedly a licensed speech pathologist, though it remains unclear what brought her to Los Angeles or how she obtained the weapon.
The incident has raised renewed concerns about celebrity security, particularly given Rihanna’s history with previous break-in attempts. Sources close to the singer say she is safe but shaken. The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to examine Ortiz’s digital footprint and any potential warning signs that may have preceded the attack.
