Shia LaBeouf has avoided immediate jail time after a violent incident in New Orleans, but the actor now faces strict legal conditions and mandatory rehabilitation as his case moves forward.
The 39-year-old actor appeared in court on February 26 following an altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations that allegedly left two people injured. A judge ordered LaBeouf to enter a drug and alcohol treatment program and comply with several restrictions while the case proceeds.
During the hearing, the court set bail at $100,000 and required LaBeouf to undergo regular substance testing and avoid any contact with the alleged victims. The judge also denied his request to travel abroad for a previously planned event, signaling concern about whether he would follow court orders without supervision.
Prosecutors told the court that LaBeouf was involved in a physical confrontation after being asked to leave a bar in the French Quarter. According to police reports, one person claimed the actor repeatedly punched him, possibly causing a serious facial injury, while another individual was also hurt during the incident.
