Timothée Chalamet is drawing renewed attention online after comments he previously made about child-free lifestyles resurfaced on social media.

The remarks come amid broader discussion around the actor following recent criticism tied to his comments about opera and ballet, which some members of the performing arts community said were dismissive.

In a 2025 interview with Vogue, Chalamet spoke about his views on family and parenthood while discussing his personal outlook on the future.

During the conversation, the Dune actor described watching an interview in which someone spoke about choosing not to have children and the freedom it allowed them.

According to Chalamet, he and a friend reacted with surprise to the remarks.

Chalamet added that he understood some people may not have children for personal or practical reasons but said he personally sees parenthood as a meaningful part of life.

“Some people can’t have children or are never in a position to,” he said, before adding that he believes “procreation is the reason we’re here.”

The comments generated debate online when the interview was first published and have resurfaced again in recent days as discussion around the actor has intensified.

Chalamet also indicated during the interview that he could see children in his own future.

“Having kids could be on the radar,” he said.

The actor is currently in a relationship with entrepreneur and television personality Kylie Jenner. Jenner shares two children with her former partner, rapper Travis Scott.

Neither Chalamet nor Jenner has publicly commented on the renewed attention surrounding the interview.
