Bruce Campbell is facing a serious health battle—and he’s addressing it head-on.

The Evil Dead legend revealed on social media that he has been diagnosed with cancer. While he chose not to disclose specific details about the type or stage, the 66-year-old actor made it clear that treatment will temporarily sideline some of his professional commitments.

In a candid Instagram post, Campbell said he wanted to share the news himself to prevent rumors from spiraling. He emphasized that he isn’t looking for sympathy or unsolicited advice—just transparency.

“I won’t be divulging any more details,” he wrote, explaining that the diagnosis will impact appearances, conventions, and upcoming work obligations. “Appearances, conventions, and work commitments will have to take a backseat to treatment.”

Campbell described the condition as “treatable” but not “curable,” admitting the news came as a shock to him as well. Still, he struck an optimistic tone, framing the situation as an unexpected challenge he plans to confront with resilience.

He also confirmed that he’s had to withdraw from several summer convention appearances due to his treatment schedule. For now, his focus is firmly on his health.

Despite the gravity of the announcement, Campbell reassured fans that he’s determined to push through. “Don’t worry, I’m one tough SOB with a great support system,” he wrote. “I plan to be around for a good long while.”

The actor expressed hope that he’ll be feeling strong enough later this summer to promote his upcoming film, Ernie & Emma.

For decades, Campbell has built a fiercely loyal fan base thanks to his cult-classic roles and signature wit. Now, he’s leaning on that support as he navigates this next chapter.

If his message made anything clear, it’s this: Bruce Campbell isn’t backing down.
