Sarah Ferguson is once again facing uncomfortable questions about her past ties to Jeffrey Epstein, after fresh claims surfaced suggesting she may have received far more money from the disgraced financier than previously admitted.
According to author Andrew Lownie’s book The Rise and Fall of The House of York, the Duchess of York allegedly benefited from financial support that could have totaled as much as $2.5 million. A reported mutual acquaintance of Prince Andrew and Epstein claimed Ferguson may have received “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from Epstein over time. Ferguson has denied those expanded claims, maintaining that the figure has been exaggerated.
The renewed scrutiny follows Ferguson’s earlier admission that she accepted $19,000 from Epstein in 2011, which she publicly described as a “terrible, terrible error of judgment” during an interview with the London Evening Standard. At the time, she insisted the payment was the only money she took from him.
However, reports later revealed that after distancing herself from Epstein publicly, Ferguson allegedly sent him a deeply apologetic email. In that message, she reportedly referred to him as a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend” and expressed regret for how events had unfolded, according to People magazine.
Lownie’s book also paints a broader picture of Ferguson’s financial struggles, alleging extravagant spending habits during periods when she was reportedly dealing with mounting debt. The author claims she once spent roughly $31,500 in a single week on designer clothing and accessories and about $17,500 in one month at a London wine merchant.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that long-standing money issues may have played a central role in Ferguson’s recurring controversies. Bond told the Daily Express that she believes poor financial management and an appetite for luxury contributed to significant debt over the years.
While Ferguson has long attempted to move beyond the scandals that have followed her since her divorce from Prince Andrew, the resurfacing of Epstein-related allegations has reignited public scrutiny—once again placing the Duchess at the center of a storm she has repeatedly tried to leave behind.
