Sinitta is pulling back the curtain on one of the most dramatic chapters of her love life—and it involves Simon Cowell.
In a candid new interview, the 62-year-old singer admitted that her 2002 marriage to businessman Andy Willner was, in part, motivated by lingering heartbreak over her longtime on-again, off-again relationship with Cowell. The pair first met in the early 1980s and remained intertwined personally and professionally for decades.
Speaking on the Suddenly Single podcast, Sinitta reflected on how deeply she once believed she and Cowell would ultimately end up together. “I was desperately trying to make that relationship work,” she said, recalling how she envisioned a traditional family life with him. When Cowell later moved on and started a family, she described it as a painful turning point.
Sinitta acknowledged that while Willner was “a wonderful person,” her decision to marry came from unresolved emotions. She suggested that part of her motivation stemmed from wanting to prove she could move on. The marriage lasted seven years before Willner relocated abroad, and Sinitta admitted that some of her later relationships were also influenced by her complicated feelings toward Cowell.
Despite their romantic history, Sinitta has maintained a close friendship with Cowell and his fiancée, Lauren Silverman. In fact, she is godmother to their son, Eric. Looking back, Sinitta says the arrival of Cowell’s child marked the true end of any lingering “what ifs,” allowing her to finally find closure and move forward.
