Audrey Hepburn’s son is weighing in on the new biopic—and his response is surprisingly candid.

After Lily Collins was officially cast to portray the Hollywood icon in an upcoming film about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sean Hepburn Ferrer shared what he believes his late mother would think. While supportive of the project overall, he admitted there’s one phrase that might’ve made her wince.

“I believe my mother might cringe at ‘Dawn of the modern woman,’” he told the Daily Mail, referencing the subtitle of Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.—the source material for the film. “But then again, she cringed at any compliment.” According to Ferrer, humility defined Hepburn both on and off screen.

Though he wasn’t consulted about the production, Ferrer made it clear he’s not standing in the way. “Sam Wasson is a friend, and I’m thrilled for him,” he said, adding that he simply hopes the filmmakers stick to historical accuracy. As for Collins taking on the role? His reaction was short and sweet: “Love her.”

Collins, who many fans say bears an uncanny resemblance to the late star, announced the project after nearly a decade in development. While the biopic is sure to spark debate, Hepburn’s measured blessing suggests that, cringing or not, the legacy is in careful hands.
