The Game of Thrones finale may have divided the internet—but according to Sophie Turner, one cast member walked away completely satisfied.
When HBO’s fantasy juggernaut ended in May 2019 after eight seasons, backlash over the six-episode final run was swift and intense. Still, Turner has made it clear she feels differently about how things played out for Sansa Stark. In a recent interview with The Direct, the actress was asked whether she would ever return to Westeros, especially as the franchise continues expanding with spinoffs like House of the Dragon (which premiered in 2022) and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, arriving in 2026.
Turner jokingly responded, “Show me the money!” but stopped short of confirming anything. She admitted that revisiting Sansa’s world would be both challenging and exciting. More importantly, she revealed she was genuinely happy with how her character’s story ended—something she implied wasn’t true for much of the cast.
Sansa’s arc took her from naive noblewoman to Queen in the North by the series finale, ruling an independent kingdom while Bran Stark claimed the Iron Throne. Turner has said she felt lucky with that outcome and suggested she’d only return if the script truly made sense. “I’d need to see a script first,” she noted.
While many fans remain critical of how the final seasons handled several characters, Turner appears at peace with Sansa’s ending. Whether that satisfaction ever translates into a comeback remains to be seen—but in a franchise where reboots and spinoffs are the norm, nothing is off the table.
