Hilary Duff is opening up about a surprisingly vulnerable fear—even after seven years of marriage to Matthew Koma.

In a February 19 interview with Rolling Stone, the 36-year-old singer and actress admitted she has recurring dreams that Koma will cheat on her and leave her for someone else. “I constantly worry Matt will run off with some hip indie songwriter he’s collaborating with,” she confessed. The anxiety even inspired a song on her upcoming album, Luck … or Something. While Duff channels those insecurities into the track “Holiday Party,” Koma—who co-produced the album—insists the storyline is fictional, even if the emotions behind it are very real.

Duff, who shares daughters Banks, 5, Mae, 2, and Townes, 21 months, with Koma, and son Luca, 11, with ex-husband Mike Comrie, said the album explores her late-night fears and internal struggles. She described the project as deeply therapeutic, reflecting a decade of personal growth. Rather than making what she called a “mom album” about daily parenting life, Duff chose to dig into how motherhood and marriage have reshaped her identity.

The record also touches on family strain, including reported tension with her older sister Haylie Duff and an inconsistent relationship with her father. One track, “We Don’t Talk,” appears to reference the sibling rift. Duff compared the emotional exposure to her 2015 divorce, saying that once private pain becomes public, it forces you to relive it. Ultimately, she decided to include the song because it represents one of the most isolating chapters of her life.
