Amy Schumer has officially filed for divorce from her husband, chef Chris Fischer, ending their marriage after more than seven years together. Court records confirm that the comedian submitted the paperwork on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in New York County.

Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, married on Feb. 13, 2018, and welcomed their son, Gene, in May 2019. While speculation about the state of their relationship had been swirling for weeks, Schumer addressed the split directly in a candid Instagram post on Dec. 12.

“After 7 years together, Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” she wrote. Emphasizing a united front, Schumer added that their focus remains on co-parenting their 6½-year-old son and asked for privacy during the transition. She made it clear there was no animosity, calling the breakup amicable and closing with, “All love and respect. Family forever.”

Sources close to the former couple echoed that sentiment, describing the split as mutual and drama-free. According to insiders, there is no bad blood between Schumer and Fischer, and the two have been working quietly to finalize remaining details.

In the weeks leading up to the filing, Schumer had subtly addressed rumors online. In November, she posted a message insisting the couple was still married, and later clarified that any speculation about their relationship had nothing to do with her health journey, weight loss, or her son’s autism diagnosis. At the time, she expressed hope that they could weather the challenges, calling Fischer “truly the best.”

Earlier this month, Schumer shared a reflective post looking ahead to 2026, focusing on self-care, gratitude, and moving forward with love rather than regret. While the marriage has come to an end, Schumer’s messaging has remained consistent—grounded, honest, and centered on family.
