Taylor Swift’s fairytale love story with NFL superstar Travis Kelce just got a major twist — and this time, it’s her mom, Andrea Swift, who’s taking the credit for making it all happen.
In the latest episode of The End of an Era, Taylor’s Disney+ docuseries, fans finally learn that her romance with Kelce began thanks to a little family matchmaking. The pop icon’s mom revealed she was the one who nudged Taylor to give the Kansas City Chiefs tight end a chance — after reading about his now-famous attempt to hand her a friendship bracelet with his phone number during her 2023 Eras Tour.
Andrea recalled being charmed by Kelce’s bold move and decided to dig deeper. “I called my cousin Robin, who’s obsessed with the Chiefs,” she explained. “She told me Travis is this great guy who absolutely adores his mom. And that was it for me — I thought, ‘Bingo! He’s the one Taylor should meet.’”
Taylor admitted she wasn’t exactly the sporty type when it came to dating. “I’ve always avoided athletes,” she laughed. “Then Mom called and said, ‘Okay, hear me out… there’s this guy.’ It was so unlike her — I knew she meant business.”
According to Taylor, her mom’s instincts were spot-on. “Travis showed up at my concert with something from my world — it was so genuine,” she said. “That’s what really got my mom’s attention.”
From there, sparks flew. “He had to explain football to me like it was some kind of aggressive chess,” Taylor joked in the episode. “And before I knew it, I was completely hooked — on him and the sport.”
Their whirlwind romance took off in fall 2023, and the couple reportedly got engaged in August 2025. During a recent appearance on Kelce’s podcast New Heights, Taylor reflected on how it all started: “It was wild, but it worked out perfectly. I’ve got to give a shout-out to New Heights for making this happen.”
She added that Kelce’s personality keeps her grounded: “He makes me laugh, he lights up every room, and he’s just genuinely kind. He’s my human mood-lifter.”
