A new video released by Channel 15Ya for the 10th anniversary of Reply 1988 has drawn buzz after it revealed a film photo of Ryu Jun-yeol taken by Hyeri.
On December 1, the channel uploaded a clip captioned that they had given Deok-sun a film camera for her trip with the Ssangmun-dong family.
In the footage, PD Na Young-seok hands Hyeri, who played Deok-sun, a disposable camera and asks her to capture moments during the trip so the team can later turn them into a commemorative video. Hyeri gladly accepts, lighting up as she agrees to take the photos.
The newly released footage captures the Ssangmun dong family’s trip to Gangwon Province, filmed through the warm, nostalgic lens of Hyeri’s disposable camera. The cast’s costumes and makeup faithfully recreate the 1988 setting of the drama, while their enduring chemistry a full decade later delivers a touching sense of familiarity.
One moment drawing particular attention shows Ryu Jun Yeol seated at a table with Ra Mi Ran, Kim Sung Kyun, Ahn Jae Hong, and Lee Min Ji. The photo, taken with the camera entrusted to Hyeri, has sparked renewed discussion among fans because of Ryu’s appearance.
Ryu Jun Yeol’s agency previously shared that although he could not attend the full MT schedule due to conflicts, he adjusted his commitments to join portions of the shoot for this commemorative project.
The special variety program Reply 1988 10th Anniversary follows the cast on a two day trip to celebrate the milestone. The show reunites the ensemble that made the series a cultural phenomenon, including Sung Dong Il, Lee Il Hwa, Ra Mi Ran, Kim Sung Kyun, Choi Moo Sung, Kim Sun Young, Ryu Jae Myung, Ryu Hye Young, Hyeri, Ryu Jun Yeol, Go Kyung Pyo, Park Bo Gum, Ahn Jae Hong, Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Sung Won, and Lee Min Ji.
The program aims to revive memories of Ssangmun dong alongside the anniversary MT and premieres on the nineteenth at 8:40 PM.
In related news, Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri, who first met while filming Reply 1988, began dating publicly in August 2017 but ended their relationship in November 2023.
