Footage that surfaced on March 22 captured a disturbing moment during Mario Barretts concert at the Jack White Theater in Detroit, where the R&B singer was sexually assaulted by a married woman in the audience.

While Mario performed near the edge of the stage, a woman in the front row abruptly reached out and groped his groin, her wedding ring clearly visible as the incident unfolded.

Mario maintained his professionalism and continued the show after calmly telling her not to do that. The video spread rapidly online, sparking widespread condemnation from fans and industry figures.

Viewers emphasized that the behavior was inexcusable under any circumstances, calling it a clear case of sexual assault. The incident followed another boundary violation just one day earlier, when rock artist Lenny Kravitz had his dreadlocks forcefully pulled by an overexcited fan during a performance of Let Love Rule.

Kravitz later responded with humor, asking if the fan knew how hard one would need to pull to rip out dreadlocks, though netizens criticized the conduct and praised his composed reaction while underscoring the need to respect performers personal space.

Mario made his debut with the self-titled album Mario in 2002 and went on to achieve major chart success with the releases Turning Point and Go. After taking a hiatus beginning in 2009, he returned in 2018 with Dancing Shadows, rebuilding his momentum and reconnecting with longtime fans.

In addition to his music career, Mario has expanded his presence in entertainment through appearances on shows such as Last Week Tonight and the U.S. edition of The Masked Singer, further showcasing his versatility as an artist.
