Comedian Shin Gi Ru surprised viewers by revealing that he had once received an unexpected offer from a well-known magazine to do a bikini photoshoot. The story surfaced during the November 11 episode of SBS’s Shoe Off, Dolsing Poman, where Shin appeared alongside Hong Hyun Hee, Jay Seon, and Paul Kim. When he shared the unusual proposal, his co-stars reacted with disbelief and laughter, teasingly asking if the magazine had perhaps mistaken him for his sister.
With a laugh, Shin Gi Ru explained that the offer stemmed from a lighthearted moment on his YouTube channel while celebrating his 20th anniversary. He had jokingly mentioned wanting to do a semi-nude photoshoot, which unexpectedly caught the attention of a major magazine that soon reached out with a bikini shoot proposal. Shin said the editor-in-chief personally contacted him, expressing genuine interest in featuring him.
He added that even cosmetics brand M*C commented on the idea, showing enthusiasm about collaborating, which made him consider taking on the bold concept for fun. Co-host Hong Hyun Hee encouraged him, saying it could look great if he’s in good shape and noted his muscular build, while Tak Jae Hoon playfully complimented him for having a beautiful face.
