MC Mong is facing intense backlash after posting photos of his home on social media, set to the song “Home Sweet Home.”
The images, apparently taken at the end of his day, show a brown staircase and three teddy bear–shaped toys. But amid the otherwise ordinary setting, one detail stood out—a portrait of Adolf Hitler hanging on the wall.
The post quickly sparked outrage across online platforms, with many calling it “a display of complete disregard for historical sensitivity.” Critics argued that sharing an image featuring the Nazi leader shows a shocking lack of awareness given the atrocities associated with him.
The controversy has also reignited public attention on MC Mong’s troubled past. The rapper—once a household name in South Korea’s pop and hip-hop scene—was at the center of a major military service evasion scandal in 2010, which drew nationwide condemnation. His attempts to relaunch his career since then have been shadowed by repeated controversy.
In 2024, his name surfaced again in connection with allegations involving his management agency, a suspected cryptocurrency scam, and the expulsion of a boy band member following a prostitution case.
MC Mong first rose to infamy in 2010 after being accused of having his molars removed to avoid mandatory military duty, a serious offense in South Korea, where nearly all able-bodied men are required to serve. While the country’s Supreme Court acquitted him of draft-dodging charges in 2012, he was found guilty of obstructing official duties for repeatedly applying to civil service exams to delay his enlistment. He received a six-month suspended sentence, one year of probation, and 120 hours of community service.
