CBX, the subunit of K-pop powerhouse EXO consisting of Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, has issued a statement regarding their ongoing dispute with their agency, SM Entertainment (SM), while reaffirming their intention to continue participating in full-group activities.
On Thursday, CBX’s agency, INB100, released a follow-up statement in response to SM’s previously announced position.
The dispute centers on SM’s claim that the CBX members had failed to pay 10% of their individual activity revenue, as stipulated in an existing agreement. INB100 clarified, “There has been no change in our willingness to pay the 10% revenue share. Since litigation is ongoing, we plan to fulfill the agreement as soon as the legal process concludes.”
The agency also stressed that repeated disputes have significantly eroded trust between both parties. “It is only natural that fulfilling the existing agreement and making sincere efforts to restore trust from the three members’ side should come first,” the statement read. CBX emphasized that “all negotiations have been conducted on the premise of EXO’s full-group activities. The members have clarified their intention to honor the agreement and have been communicating directly with fellow members, striving to participate as part of the team.”
Previously, SM claimed that CBX filed an objection on October 16, despite allegedly agreeing to all conditions proposed by the company after a second mediation session on October 2. INB100 refuted this, stating, “This is not accurate. CBX communicated their willingness to pay 10% of individual revenue to SM around the mediation date and were awaiting a final response. However, the amount suggested by the mediator on October 2 was arbitrarily calculated and unrelated to prior agreements, so neither party could accept it. When the figure was later delivered in writing, both sides filed objections on October 16 as a standard procedural step. Claims that CBX lacked intent to agree are therefore false.”
INB100 concluded, “CBX remains committed to faithfully fulfilling the existing agreement and will do their utmost to restore trust with the other members and reach an amicable resolution with SM.”
