Representatives for actor Kim Soo Hyun (37) have once again denied allegations of dating Kim Sae Ron (25) during her minor years, asserting that the core of this case is a nationwide fraud scheme.
According to a Newsis report, legal representative Attorney Ko Sang-rok stated on October 27 via YouTube channels such as “Advancing Attorney Ko” that the photo showing Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun face-to-face was taken in February 2020, when the deceased was entering her second year of college.
He explained that the deceased briefly posted the photo on social media before deleting it, and that the YouTube channel “Garo Sero Research Institute” began manipulating and fabricating evidence once counterarguments emerged.
Kim Soo Hyun never dated the deceased for even a single day before she became a college student and an adult. All verified evidence consistently shows that the two began dating in the summer of 2019 after the deceased entered college and that their relationship ended the following spring, lasting less than a year.
The “Garo Sero Research Institute” has repeatedly claimed during its broadcasts that it would “release thousands of photos,” but to date, not a single one has been presented. According to the legal team, such photos—allegedly depicting a relationship during her minor years—simply do not exist.
Regarding the acquaintance whom Kim Sae Ron referred to as “aunt” during her lifetime, it was claimed that on January 8 of this year, the deceased attempted self-harm and that this person and their family took care of her.
However, on that same day, the deceased was reportedly in the United States, and official documents confirm that she registered for marriage with a man there.
It was further explained that nearly all of this person’s statements, among the content released so far, are false.
Attorney Ko emphasized that the key issue in this case is evidence manipulation, stating, “This is an unprecedented nationwide fraud case that has socially assassinated the character of an innocent victim through fabricated evidence.
Considering the criminal motives, objectives, and ripple effects, a thorough investigation must be conducted to fully uncover the truth behind this conspiracy. The perpetrators should face severe punishment proportionate to the maliciousness of their actions and the global impact they have caused.”
Kim Soo Hyun has faced allegations of dating Kim Sae Ron for about six years, beginning from her minor years. Kim Sae Ron was found deceased in her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, which is also Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday. The bereaved family provided photos, text messages, and letters between the two to the Garo Sero Research Institute.
They also engaged in a dispute over a penalty notice from Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, related to the deceased’s drunk driving accident.
At a press conference on March 31, Kim Soo Hyun tearfully denied dating the deceased during her minor years, stating, “It’s not true that she made a tragic choice because of my indifference or because my agency pressured her about the debt.” He also questioned the authenticity of KakaoTalk messages from 2016 and 2018 that were released by the bereaved family.
Kim has filed civil and criminal lawsuits, including a 9 million USD damages claim, against the bereaved family and the operator of the Garo Sero Research Institute, Kim Se-ui, and has lodged complaints for violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation) and other related charges.
