A social media user who once claimed to have leaked private conversations exposing actor Lee Yi Kyung’s “real personality” has admitted to fabricating the entire exchange using artificial intelligence.
The individual, identified only as A, posted sexually explicit messages online earlier this month, insisting the chats were authentic interactions with the Marry My Husband star. The posts quickly went viral, sparking intense backlash and speculation across online communities.
Lee’s agency swiftly denied the allegations, revealing that A had attempted to extort money from the actor by using the fake AI-generated content. The agency confirmed it has already begun legal proceedings against the perpetrator for defamation and blackmail.
In a statement released Wednesday, A publicly apologized, explaining that what started as “a thoughtless prank” spiraled far beyond their control. “I didn’t expect the post to spread like this,” A wrote. “I deeply regret my actions and the harm caused to Lee Yi Kyung.”
The incident highlights a growing concern in the entertainment industry over the misuse of AI-generated content, as fake messages, images, and videos are increasingly being weaponized to damage reputations. Lee’s legal team emphasized that such malicious acts will be met with strict legal consequences.
