A woman who longs for a child yet rejects the roles of wife and daughter-in-law has deliberately reconnected with her first love.

This captivating story unfolded on Channel A’s Detectives: The Trade Secrets on Monday. A 40-year-old woman, Ms. A, approached a detective agency to locate her high school sweetheart.

Ms. A recalled her innocent first love with her landlord’s son during her high school years—a romance abruptly ended by his mother’s vehement disapproval.

Forced to leave, Ms. A and her mother moved to Seoul when she began college. Over time, she advanced in her career and eventually became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a prestigious investment firm in Gangnam.

Thanks to the detective agency’s efforts, Ms. A was reunited with her first love after two decades. He had become a university professor. Their old passion was rekindled, and he even proposed.

However, Ms. A’s reaction was unexpected. She asked for some time, then declined, stating that marriage was off the table. She severed all ties and disappeared.

Perplexed, her first love turned to the detective agency. He noted that she’s put her house on the market, it’s as if she’s been possessed. He pleaded to please, find her.

Months later, Ms. A resurfaced—but not alone. It turned out that, while she rejected marriage, she yearned for motherhood. She had purposefully sought out her first love for that very reason.

Ms. A confessed that she froze her eggs a decade ago. She said that when she considered discarding them, it didn’t feel right. The truth is, she only wanted his sperm.

She had even propositioned an ex-boyfriend to get her pregnant as she’s 40 already. Noting that they should’ve skipped protection back then. She told him that he has millions of sperm—isn’t it possible to spare one? That’s just stingy. He refused.

Ms. A asserted firmly that being someone’s wife is horrifying, and she refuse to become a daughter-in-law. Marriage is absolutely off the table.

To her first love, she admitted that she never intended to use him at first. After being rejected by others, he came to mind. She thought, having a child with him would be ideal. She said that’s why she hired a detective. The day they met was her ovulation day—she couldn’t let him leave without seizing the opportunity.

She continued that because her uterus is aging a little more each day, despite her busy schedule she made sure to meet him on her fertile days.

She explained that natural conception proved challenging. Keeping him around felt selfish, so she ended things and went to Denmark, home to the world’s largest sperm bank.

Ms. A emphasized that she had decided on Denmark, but then discovered she was already naturally pregnant. This baby is hers alone and she need a child, not a husband.

In the end, Ms. A became a single mother. Her first love, recalling his own mother’s fixation on having a male heir—which had led to her divorce—chose instead to support Ms. A’s decision in silence.
