Elle UK, the fashion magazine that recently faced backlash for allegedly cropping BLACKPINK’s Rosé out of a group photo, has now featured Squid Game breakout star Jung Ho Yeon as its latest cover model.
On Monday, Elle UK unveiled the cover for its November issue across its official website and social media platforms. The magazine confirmed that Jung Ho Yeon would be gracing the cover of the upcoming issue.
This move comes on the heels of a racial discrimination controversy that engulfed Elle UK. On September 29, during Paris Fashion Week, the magazine shared a photo on its official social media featuring singer Charli XCX, model Hailey Bieber, and actress Zoë Kravitz posing together at the Saint Laurent show. However, it was later revealed that the original image had included K-pop star Rosé, making it a quartet.
The magazine faced immediate criticism for what appeared to be an intentional exclusion of Rosé from the image. Global fans rallied, demanding explanations and apologies from the publication.
In response to the mounting pressure, Elle UK took to social media to address the issue. They claimed that Rosé’s absence was a mistake that occurred during the photo resizing process. The controversial image was promptly deleted, and the original photo including Rosé was shared in its place.
