Confidence Queenwhich wrapped up on October 12, follows three charismatic con artists who employ outlandish methods to swindle money from those consumed by greed and desire. This comedy series stars Park Min Young, the queen of ratings, alongside seasoned actors Park Hee Soon and Joo Jong Hyuk as a trio of scamming Avengers.
Park Min Young’s comeback project, paired with the reliable Park Hee Soon and rising star Joo Jong Hyuk, generated significant buzz before its debut. In the series, Park Min Young portrays Yoon Yi-rang, the leader of a team of con artists who catch other con artists, boasting a genius-level intellect and captivating looks of the top 1%. She embodied the character so perfectly that it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role.

However, the show’s performance fell short of initial expectations. Confidence Queen debuted with a 1.1% rating, which dipped to 0.9% by the fourth episode. Critics noted it struggled against the popular drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty in the same time slot. In an apparent attempt to boost ratings, the show changed its broadcast time, but the move failed to improve viewership. Despite domestic struggles, the show received positive reactions globally. On the day of its final episode,Confidence Queen ranked in the top 3 among dramas on Amazon Prime’s worldwide Top 8 TV shows list, and it also secured a spot in Coupang Play’s TOP10 rankings, reinforcing its status as a strong player in the global streaming market.
