On Monday, Harper’s Bazaar Korea released an exclusive behind-the-scenes video on its YouTube channel titled, “Want to Know the Story Behind Trigger? #KimNamGil #KimYoungKwang #BehindTheScenesInterview.”
When asked why he chose to play Moon Baek, Kim Young Kwang shared, “I was really excited about this character. I knew I’d have a lot of fun filming the project.” Asked how Moon Baek compares to his own personality, Kim laughed and said, “We’re complete opposites.”
Kim Nam Gil quickly disagreed, adding, “That’s not true at all. It’s a perfect fit. Young Kwang is like a playful goofball. Anyone who knows him can vouch for his quirky and playful side, which makes him perfect for the role.”

As for why he took on Trigger, Kim Nam Gil explained, “The concept really grabbed me. I was intrigued by the idea of what might happen if guns suddenly became widely available in a country known for strict gun control. It felt fresh and original.”
Discussing their preparation for the roles, Kim Nam Gil said, “Since my character is a former sniper, I focused on details like wearing dark clothing, staying low-profile, and being observant and quiet. I researched these traits to bring authenticity to my performance.”
Kim Young Kwang added, “The show’s intense atmosphere can be heavy, so I thought it was important for my character to provide a shift in energy whenever I appear on screen. That was something I really considered.”

When asked to rate their on-screen chemistry on a scale of 1 to 10,
Kim Nam Gil joked, “Moon Baek gets a zero,” before laughing and correcting himself, “How about 15?” Kim Young Kwang added with a smile, “If we’re being generous, maybe 65,” drawing laughs from everyone.

Trigger is a Netflix original gun-action thriller that follows two men who take up arms for their own reasons amid a sudden surge of illegal firearms flooding South Korea, sparking a wave of violent incidents.
