Katy Perry is not hiding how serious things have become with Justin Trudeau.
The singer and the former Canadian prime minister made their red carpet debut on June 8 at the TriBeCa Film Festival, where Perry attended the premiere of her ‘Lifetimes Tour’ concert film.
The moment already had fans watching closely. Then Perry made it even more obvious.
While speaking at the screening, the ‘Teenage Dream’ singer said she is “very in love” and called Trudeau “the love of my life.”
The declaration came after what Perry described as one of the hardest years she has ever lived through.
Perry Said Trudeau Makes Her Feel Anchored
Perry and Trudeau first sparked romance rumors in July 2025 after they were spotted together. They have now reportedly been dating for close to a year.
At the film premiere, Perry reflected on how meeting Trudeau changed the emotional tone of her tour.
“Actually that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that,” she said.
Perry then described herself as someone who often needs grounding.
“Because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite,” she said. “I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored.”
She added that having that anchor has made her feel “really whole now.”
For a star whose personal life has often unfolded in public, the comment sounded like more than a casual romance update. It sounded like a reset.
Perry Reflected On A Painful Year
Perry also opened up about the year before finding that stability.
She said she went through one of the hardest stretches of her life and had to keep moving through it for herself, her fans, and her daughter. “I went through a ton, and there were days that were really, really, really, really hard,” she said.
Perry said she kept going because she had made promises. “I made a promise to my fans. I made a promise to my daughter. I made a promise to myself. And I got through it,” she said.
The singer shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with Orlando Bloom. Perry and Bloom were together from 2016 until 2025. Their split came before Perry’s relationship with Trudeau became public.
From Orlando Bloom Split To Trudeau Romance
Perry did not directly frame her comments around Bloom, but the timeline makes the contrast hard to miss.
After nearly a decade with Bloom and years of public interest in their family life, Perry is now stepping into a new chapter with Trudeau.
That relationship has drawn attention for obvious reasons. Perry is one of the biggest pop stars of her generation. Trudeau is one of the most recognizable political figures in the world.
Their red carpet debut made the relationship feel more official. Her “love of my life” comment made it feel even bigger.
Perry also told the audience that life now feels like “a fantastic journey” and said every day is a chance to grow, evolve, and become a better person.
Perry Says She Walked Through Fire
Perry used dramatic language to describe what it took to reach this point.
“I walked through the fire because everybody has to walk through their own fire,” she said.
She added that if someone is “walking through hell,” they should keep going because “on the other side of hell is definitely heaven.”
Perry also reflected on how her emotional life has changed with age. “Your 20s are for emotions. Your 30s are for sorting them, and your 40s are for not caring about those emotions and turning them into gasoline,” she said. She said pain, sadness, and grief do not discriminate, and that everyone faces them in different ways.
For Perry, the message was clear. The last year hurt. But with Trudeau by her side, she now seems to be presenting that pain as something she survived, not something that still defines her.
