George Clooney has a favorite in the James Bond sweepstakes, and he is not being subtle.
The Oscar winner says Callum Turner would be an ideal choice to take over as 007. Clooney worked with Turner on the 2023 film ‘The Boys in the Boat’ and clearly came away impressed.
“I’m rooting for Callum to be the next Bond,” Clooney told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think he’d make a fantastic 007.”

Clooney said Turner has the right mix for the role.
“He’s got the height, the looks, the charm, and he’s British,” Clooney said. “He’s the ideal candidate for the role.”
Turner, 36, has already built a steady résumé across film and television. He appeared in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films, ‘Assassin’s Creed,’ ‘Masters of the Air,’ ‘The Only Living Boy in New York’ and the romantic comedy ‘Eternity.’
Clooney praised Turner for making smart choices instead of chasing easy paychecks.
“He hasn’t just chased the easy money,” Clooney said. “He’s taken on some really compelling projects.”
Turner Stays Quiet On 007 Talk
Turner is not giving much away about the Bond rumors.
“I’m as in the dark as everyone else,” he said. “Honestly, I know nothing more.”
He also declined to say whether he would accept the role if it were offered.
That is probably the safest answer in Hollywood. Bond speculation can turn any comment into a headline, especially with fans watching every possible contender.
The Bond Search Is Heating Up
Amazon General Motors Studios confirmed in May that the search for the next James Bond is underway. Denis Villeneuve, the director behind ‘Dune,’ is set to direct the next film.
No lead actor has been announced.
Daniel Craig last played Bond in 2021’s ‘No Time to Die.’ Before him, the role belonged to Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Sean Connery.
Barbara Broccoli said in 2020 that Bond should remain male but could be played by an actor of any ethnicity. Amazon has since taken control of the franchise after a 2025 agreement with Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
For now, Turner is just one name in the mix. But with Clooney publicly backing him, his Bond buzz just got a serious Hollywood boost.
