Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are no longer looking like a casual celebrity surprise.
The singer and Canada’s former prime minister are reportedly approaching their first anniversary, and the relationship has now reached a bigger family stage. According to an insider, Perry and Trudeau have started blending their families after months of keeping things steady across distance, busy schedules, and very public past relationships.
“Things between Katy and Justin are very serious,” the insider said in a June 4 report.
That is a sharp turn for Perry, who ended her engagement to Orlando Bloom last summer after nearly a decade together.
Katy And Justin Are Reportedly Blending Their Families
Perry, 41, shares daughter Daisy Dove Bloom with Bloom. Trudeau, 54, shares three children with his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 12.
According to the insider, Perry has already introduced Daisy to Trudeau’s children as the couple continues “integrating their lives more and more.”
“Their relationship has deepened over the past several months, and they are about to celebrate their one-year anniversary,” the source said. “They both feel it’s important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.”
The family focus appears to be the center of the relationship. Another insider said the main concern for both Perry and Trudeau is keeping things stable for their children.
“The priority for both of them is stability for the kids,” the source said. “Katy and Justin have had to be flexible to make the relationship work. They travel whenever they can to spend time together. The long-distance dynamic was never a surprise to them.”
The Long-Distance Setup Has Not Slowed Them Down
Perry currently spends most of her time in Montecito, California, where she coparents Daisy with Bloom. One source said Perry and Bloom have a good rhythm with coparenting, which keeps California as her main base unless she is traveling for tour.
Trudeau, meanwhile, has reportedly planted new roots in Montreal. In February, reports said he purchased a two-story home in Outremont for $4.26 million. The property is said to be around 5,000 square feet and large enough for a blended family.
For now, Perry and Trudeau are still working through a long-distance relationship. The arrangement, however, reportedly has not created major trouble. “They’ve found a rhythm that works and make a point to see each other as often as possible,” a source said.
Perry Was Not Expecting This After Orlando Bloom
Perry and Trudeau first sparked romance talk in July 2025 after they were spotted on a date in Montreal. They later made the relationship Instagram official in December.
The timing apparently surprised Perry, who was not planning to move quickly after her split from Bloom.
“After her split from Orlando, Katy really wasn’t expecting to jump into another relationship anytime soon, but Justin completely caught her by surprise,” the insider said. “He came into her life at the right time, and they have developed a really strong connection.”
The source also claimed Perry is “really happy,” while Trudeau has “been making a real effort to be present despite their busy schedules.”
“Katy loves that Justin laughs at her jokes and understands her quirky humor,” the insider added. “Her friends think he’s a good match for her. The future is definitely something they’ve talked about, and they’re both committed to seeing where this goes.”
For a pairing that first had people asking if it was even real, Perry and Trudeau now appear to be moving into much more serious territory.
