Keanu Reeves kept it simple when asked about girlfriend Alexandra Grant.
The actor attended the 2026 MOCA Gala in Los Angeles with Grant on Saturday, May 30, where the couple opened up about love, art, and how their relationship has shaped their creative lives.
When asked whether he agreed that Grant is an “easy woman to love,” Reeves did not hesitate. “Yes!” he said. Grant, meanwhile, admitted that dating Reeves has made a visible difference in her own work.
Grant Says Her Art Has Become Happier
Grant, 53, is a visual artist whose work has been shown in galleries across the country. While speaking on the red carpet at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Little Tokyo, she said her relationship with Reeves has affected the emotional tone of her paintings.
“That’s a big question,” Grant said when asked how love had changed her art.
She then explained that even abstract paintings can carry personal meaning. “I would say that all painting is autobiographical,” she said. “Even though maybe even in abstraction it doesn’t look like there’s a big narrative.”
Then came the confession. “I would definitely say that my paintings become happier,” Grant said. She added that the change is “undeniable.”
Reeves, 61, gave a more reserved answer when asked whether his own work had changed because of love. “I don’t know if it has,” he said.

Keanu And Alexandra’s Relationship Started With Art
Reeves and Grant have been romantically linked since 2019, but their connection began through creative work.
The pair first collaborated on the book ‘Ode To Happiness’, which Reeves wrote and Grant illustrated. They later co-founded a publishing house together before going public with their relationship.
At the MOCA Gala, the couple emphasized the importance of supporting artists and institutions that make space for creative work. Grant said the museum holds personal meaning for her because former senior curator Alma Ruiz gave her a solo show there in 2007. “We are here to support MOCA because we love this museum,” Grant said. Reeves said the gala also gave them a chance to see friends and support the broader art world.
Grant Says Mutual Respect Keeps Them Balanced
Just days before the gala, Grant also spoke about her relationship with Reeves at the launch of her wine brand, LOVE Wine, L.A.
She said the key to their relationship is “mutual respect.”
Grant explained that they both understand the demands of project-based work, whether it is painting, film, or creative collaboration. “I’ve lived with John Wick, I’ve lived with Neo,” she said, referring to Reeves’ famous roles in ‘John Wick’ and ‘The Matrix’. She said she respects when Reeves is deep in a character, and she believes the same principle applies to painting. “When I’m in painter mode, I am in it,” Grant said.
For Reeves and Grant, the relationship seems to work because neither treats the other’s creative life as background noise. He says she is easy to love. She says love has made her work happier. That is about as direct as celebrity romance gets.
