Donald Trump Jr. is facing backlash over a birthday tribute to his daughter Kai Trump after some followers questioned the photos he chose to include.
The 48-year-old posted a carousel on Instagram for Kai’s 19th birthday on May 12. The tribute included childhood pictures, family moments, a red prom gown photo, and several swimwear shots from a tropical trip.
That last part set off criticism. Some users argued the swimwear photos felt odd because Kai does not appear to post that kind of content on her own page.

His fiancée, Bettina Anderson, commented, “I can’t believe you have a kid in college!”
Don Jr. replied, “I’m an old man, babe.”
Kai is expected to begin her freshman year at the University of Miami in the fall. She has built her own public profile as a golfer and YouTube personality, but the birthday tribute still became a debate about boundaries.
One commenter questioned why Don Jr. posted swimwear pictures when Kai reportedly does not share those images herself. Another critic was much harsher, writing, “What a horrible father and person you are.” A different user brought politics into it, asking whether the family understands the level of public anger around them.

Away from the Instagram argument, Kai’s birthday celebration appeared more low-key.
Don Jr. and ex-wife Vanessa reportedly reunited at her home for an intimate party with family and friends. The room was decorated for the occasion, and Kai blew out candles on a round pink cake with red icing.
